Privacy & program facts

We don’t collect anything about you.

Knox Pick-Me-Up is a road-safety thank-you, not a data program. Redeeming a card takes no account, no app, and no personal information.

What a redemption stores: the card’s serial number, which shop redeemed it, and the date and time. That’s the whole record — no names, no phone numbers, no email, no payment details, and no location tracking.

What’s collected — and what isn’t

Where it lives, and who sees what

Every redemption is written to one private Google Sheet run by the program. Partners — the City, KPD, KAT, and participating venues — see only the aggregate dashboard (counts, trends, and which venues are active), never the sheet itself. The sheet is shared with no one outside the program lead.

The card’s QR code

The QR on each card encodes only this public website plus the card’s own serial. Scanning it with a normal phone just opens the shop map — it doesn’t phone home, install anything, or read anything off your device.

Website analytics

To know roughly how many people visit this site, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics — a privacy-first, cookieless tool. It counts page views in aggregate (which pages, the general region, and the kind of device) and sets no cookies, builds no visitor profile, fingerprints no one, and never follows you across other sites. There is no way to tie a visit back to a person, and none of it touches the redemption records above.

Retention and backups

The redemption records are kept so the program can report how many safe rides it thanked and keep the coffee math honest. They’re backed up nightly as plain CSV files, and the Google Sheet keeps its own version history — both hold the same non-personal records described above.

Accessibility

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA across this site, the card scanner, and the dashboard: text and controls carry proper labels, color is never the only signal, the pages work with a keyboard and with pinch-zoom, and motion respects your reduced-motion setting. Something hard to use? Tell us and we’ll fix it — hello@knoxpickmeup.org.
